“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be ignited” – Plutarch

मेधस (pronounced MEH-dhas) is a Sanskrit word, that does not have a direct English translation. Its closest meanings are intellect, understanding and wisdom.

मेधस Academy believes that every child is bestowed with an abundance of potential in a variety of dimensions; that each child is unique; and that it is the privilege and the duty of the adults to help children fully realize that potential. The great Greek philosopher Plutarch commented over two millennia ago that the mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be ignited. How true!

It is the mission of मेधस Academy to assist parents in opening up the child’s mind to the endless possibilities; and to inspire and nurture that innate potential of the child to gain intellect, understanding and wisdom.
